This week 25th June we spent lots of money . . . . We sold the secondhand people carrier an Izuzu Panther for 50 million Rupiah. Never seen 50 million anything before, it was a lot of banknotes. The buyer came from Malang, with a couple of friends. They spent several hours going over the Panther checking it, and talking to Bayu and Yudha about it.
The money was already earmarked for other things. Number one was a new bike for me to go to school on That meant the guys can use the Honda MegaPro for business. So we went around the bike dealers looking at what was available. Yamaha have a new model, the first with a Deltabox frame here in Indonesia. It also has water cooling but is still only a 200cc and not very heavily styled, but worth a look. Well it looked quite good in the showroom, but there is a three month waiting list so we told them to forget that. They do a bigger bike but that looks just like the Honda we already have. At the Honda dealership it was much the same story, they have restyled the MegaPro by adding bits of plastic.
So we went to the Bajaj dealer. This is an Indian made bike, which I had only seen on the adverts. Uniquely in my experience so far, they had a demonstrator to try. I tried it and decided to buy it. It was the cheapest of the machines we had seen, but is also quite sexy. They have styled it to look sporty, with a fairing around the headlight and generally integrated design. It still retains some very practical touches though, gaiters to protect the front forks and all enclosed chain case. It has an electronic instrument display, and LED rear lights, and is available in black.

Like all things Indonesian it was delivered that same day, but also like all things here we have to wait for registration to happen. I can just ride it around the local estate though.
